Many people create personal projects because they have a desire to see how what’s in their mind might look like in the real world. The final product rarely looks exactly as we’d like and imperfect results can sometimes bring out our inner critic and keep us from sharing it with others.
Recently I created some personal projects that were inspired by original ideas I wanted to see developed. I called these poorly Photoshopped puns and shared them with other people on my personal social media accounts. Being up front about my limited Photoshop skills allowed me to not worry so much about getting it perfect, but just enjoy doing the best I could do with what I knew. A professional graphic designer could probably spot many mistakes—I recognize mistakes I wish I would’ve fixed or knew how to fix before.
Being okay with their imperfect results allowed me to enjoy the process more and the challenge of creating them also helped me learn some new techniques. They actually ended up coming out better than I pictured in my head. Hope you enjoy them.
